On Sunday, November 6, 2022, on her 36 th birthday, Ashlee Nicole (Mills) King, mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, coworker, and hilarious beloved friend, unexpectedly passed away and entered the arms of Jesus. Her furbabies CocoMutt and Astrid stayed by her side.
Ashlee was born on November 6, 1986 in Washington, DC to Bryant and Rene' (Lee) Mills and big sisters Shannon and Missie. She graduated from Providence School of Jacksonville in 2005 and from the University of Central Florida with her Bachelor's Degree in Communications in 2009. On October 29, 2011, she married Christian King in Ruxton, Maryland. Ashlee and Christian welcomed twins Eliza June and Patrick Hyland King on June 30, 2015.
Ashlee played volleyball and sang in chorus at Providence, and she really found her professional niche in Human Resources. She worked in several roles in Human Resources management. Most recently, she was an essential member of the restaurant HR team at Fourth Workforce Management.
Ashlee loved nature and being outdoors. She loved hikes with her kids, relaxing at the beach listening to the sounds of the ocean, and she found peace whenever she was able to spend time in nature. Her favorite color was green, and she surrounded herself with it. She loved animals of every kind and was a devoted mom to her rescue furbabies CocoMutt and Astrid. She loved music, especially 80s rock, and was a talented singer with a wide vocal range. She especially enjoyed leading worship or recording cover songs with her husband Christian.
Ashlee struggled with health issues from childhood. She persevered through many surgeries, health scares, hospitalizations, and endured physical pain beyond what most people knew. She openly shared her battle with alcoholism, the disease which ultimately stole her from us.
Ashlee will be remembered for her sharp sarcastic wit, her uncanny ability to memorize song lyrics and movie quotes (and use them in daily conversation), her empathy which helped her care for family and friends, her beautiful singing, and her generosity. Her twins (lovingly referred to as Tooties and TwinThings by Ashlee) were the light of her life, her strength, and the part of her life she was most proud of.
Ashlee was preceded in death by her mother Debra Rene' Mills (2020) and her cousin Johnathon Lee (2017). She is survived by her husband Christian, her twins Patrick and Eliza, her father Bryant Mills, her grandparents Elbert and June Lee and Robert and Shelby Mills, her sisters Shannon Kubisiak (Michael) and Missie Mills Lopez (Sebastian), her nieces and nephews Bryant Kubisiak, Nicolyn Kubisiak, Landon Lopez, and Lyra Lopez, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends-turned-family.
A viewing for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Fort Caroline Christian Church on Fort Caroline Road in Jacksonville, Florida at 9:00am. A funeral will immediately follow at 10:00am. A repast will be held following the funeral at Living Water Christian Church on Sprinkle Drive in Jacksonville, Florida. Per her wishes, Ashlee will be cremated.
