Helen Arnold Kent

Helen Frances Arnold Kent died Wednesday, September 6, 2017. She was born on March 2, 1932 to Louise Warren and Hazen Sebastian Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Hazen S. Arnold, Jr.
Helen grew up in Ottawa Hills, a suburb of Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Northwestern University in 1953 with a degree in Speech Correction and Audiology. That same year, she married Frederick H. Kent, Jr. They eventually moved to Jacksonville, Florida; and it was there, she raised four children and two dogs.
As a community volunteer, Helen served on the boards of the Jacksonville Children's Museum and the St. Vincent's Auxiliary and was a member of the Junior League of Jacksonville and the Clover Garden Circle. Helen was a church school teacher, Girl Scout leader and den mother, and stood on the sidelines of football fields, baseball fields and swimming pools. Her greatest calling was that of Mother, and she considered herself a mother to every kid in Venetia.
Helen, or Bobbie to her grandchildren, loved Halloween, old movies, root beer floats and snow. She loved to travel and planning trips for friends was a joy and a vocation. She most recently worked for Trips in the Village in Jacksonville.
Helen is survived by her children Linda Steadman, Fred Kent III ( Adrienne), Julie Traylor (Hamilton), and Hazen Kent (Cinde); her grandchildren Julie Burkhalter, Catherine Richardson, Renee Lewis, Leslie Kent, Margaret Traylor, Katie Traylor and Thomas Kent. She leaves, as well, four great grandchildren Helen and Virginia Burkhalter, Britt and Charlotte Richardson and a large extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Helen's family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Catherine's Laboure Manor for their care and devotion. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32210 at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017.
