James Edward Hodge passed away June 2, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born September 24, 1936 in Alexander City Alabama to William H & Nellie Hodge. Jim is survived by his four children: daughter Stephanie Hodge Bassett, and sons Christopher Murray Hodge ( Ginger), Timothy James Hodge, and Michael Bates Hodge (Laura). He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren: Courtney & Brewer Bassett; Whit, Davis, Hadley, Mason, Katie, Vivienne, India, and Liv Hodge, as well as his brother William Michael Hodge (Kathy). He was predeceased by his parents and his older sister Voncille Hodge Sandifer. Jim graduated from Jackson High School class of �54 and Stetson University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, played baseball and was the Student Body President of his Senior Class. He also graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1963. He practiced law in Jacksonville for many years before retiring. He was past chairman of the Jacksonville Port Authority, served a term as Special Counsel to Governor Bob Graham in 1982, served on the Young Lawyers Board for the State of Florida and was past President of the Cerebral Palsy Board and Westside Rotary Club. Jim was a member of the Florida Yacht Club and the River Club. He was an active member of St Marks Episcopal Church for many years before ultimately joining Riverside Presbyterian Church. Jim loved all sports, especially his Florida Gators! He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed supporting Navy Ortega Lakeshore Little league where his sons & grandsons played baseball. A private family service will be held.
