Michael Edwin Fields passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on September 21, 2022. Michael Edwin Fields was born to the late Floyd and Iris Fields, in Jackson, Minnesota on July 9, 1946. He loved his country and spent over 22 years in the US Navy. After military retirement, he spent over 20 years in the utility management: water and wastewater. He was an operator and achieved "A" licensure in both fields, the highest level of achievement. He graduated from Jacksonville University with a degree in Geography. Michael was blessed with a large and loving family. He often said, "family is everything." He married the love of his life Elizabeth "Lily" on December 4, 1978. They met in Derry, Northern Ireland and together
raised their seven children. Michael guided their children with patience, discipline, and humility. He was the kindest, most giving father and grandfather to all. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones. Michael was the geography buff in the family. He taught all who knew him about the world, especially Australia, Hawaii, Norway, Ireland and Scotland. These are just a few of the 26 countries he spent time in. He was kind and soft spoken. He always had time to answer questions or solve problems, especially if it was an algebra problem. He often spoke of little sayings from countries, and the two he taught all of us were; "Mele kalikimaka" Merry Christmas in Hawaiian and "Uff da" in Norwegian "what strange things are happening to me?" His legacy will live forever in our hearts. Michael is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Lily"; his sons: Joseph (Kirstin), Thomas (Tammy), and Martin (Andrea); his daughters: Christine (Tony), Teresa, Helen (Tracy), and Barbara (Ken); his grandsons: Alan, AJ, Jeff, Tommy, Gabe, and Kenny; his granddaughters: Audra, Chelsea, Ashleigh, Tara, Ashley, Caitlin, Casey, Kayla, Alexis and Ava and twenty great grandchildren. As well as his brothers: Philip (Norma) and Mark.
