Robert Rodriguez, longtime resident of Jacksonville Fl passed away peacefully at his sister's home in Jacksonville on Sep. 9 2017. He was 67
Robert was born in New York City to Rose and Ismael Rodriguez where he was raised, as well as in Tampa Fl., with his sister Becky and brothers Glenn and Billy. He also leaves behind brothers Joseph and Richard.
Even at a young age Robert was an avid entrepreneur and soon after graduating from Tampa's Hillsborough High School, he embarked on assorted enterprises ranging from home remodeling and catering, to buyer for the prestigious Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He returned to Florida and ultimately became the owner of Diesel Parts Sales and Service Inc. in Jacksonville where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 2015
Robert loved Jacksonville. He also loved design, renovating and entertaining his friends and family who lived in his city as well as throughout Florida and the country. His gregarious, kind and generous manner earned him countless friends whom he cherished with devotion and loyalty. He was active in a number of causes and supported the arts, particularly local artists and their work.
Even as he lost his physical capability, his sharp mind and clever wit never failed him. His greatest pleasure became the visits and communication with his truly good friends, both near and as far as Maryland, Arizona and California
There has been a tremendous outpouring of love as well as numerous accounts of how Robert's life affected others.
