Sharlene Jones
October 6, 1982 — December 11, 2020
Sharlene was an intellectual powerhouse of strength and compassion. She fiercely loved and
defended the greater good and hated injustice. Sharlene Dianne Jones was born on October 6,
1982 on Saint Maarten, in the beautiful Dutch Caribbean.
Sharlene passed away on December 11, 2020. She was surrounded by her family at the time of
her passing.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Edward Mangal and Homatie (Doris) Mangal, Olga
Jones, and Henry Jones.
She is survived by her son Justice Deazle; her father, Lewis Jones; her mother, Sandra Jones;
and her siblings; Tracey Sookdeo, Jerma Adams, Sharmaine Grant, Sharon Jones, and Louis
Jones.
Sharlene was a tireless fighter who battled cancer for 10 years. She chose to live her best life in
spite of constant pain and suffering.
Sharlene was a unique soul. Her brother describes her perfectly as a free spirit. She wasn't
afraid to try new things. Failure did not deter her. She was adventurous and didn't hesitate to
dive into the unknown. Sharlene expressed her passion through art, makeup, hair, nails,
fashion, rocks, and even her political rants.
Sharlene was accepting. She embraced the weirdness in those around her and believed that
those differences made you who you are. She loved freely and listened without judgement.
Whatever she believed in, she defended it without resignation.
She loved her family with all of her heart and went out of her way to show them how special
they were. She translated that exponentially into her relationship with her son. The bond that
they share is unbreakable; the connection they cultivated is remarkable. They both expressed
artistic creativity and enjoyed similar interests.
Sharlene will always be remembered as the creative genius, the warrior princess, the
compassionate soul, and the breathtaking Caribbean beauty.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2020 , 10am - 12pm followed by a Funeral Service at 12pm at Journey Church, 6225 Lake Gray Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32244.
