Grant went home to be the Lord on Monday, February 21, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL after a longtime battle with kidney disease. Grant was born in Miami, FL on August 25th, 1946 to Maurice and Donnace Hastings. He graduated from Miami Senior High, Florida State University and University of Louisville School of Dentistry (DMD) in 1972. Grant was then accepted into the U S Navy General Dentistry Rotating Internship and was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Virginia and then Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in Puerto Rico. He was very proud that he had served in the U S Navy and after his discharge in 1976 he moved to Jacksonville to begin his dental career. Grant is survived by his wife of 51 years Annette Roberts Hastings, children Rob Hastings and Robin Hastings Talley, son-in-law Dr. Brad Talley and grandchild Kate Talley who called him Papa Bear. He is also survived by his brother Jack Hastings (Sandra), brother-in-law Fred Roberts (Debra) and nieces and nephews and their children.

Grant was devoted to God, family and his country. He loved the FSU Seminoles, Miami Dolphins and then Jacksonville Jaguars as a longtime season ticket holder. He was a member of FBC Jacksonville and a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). The family would like to thank DCI dialysis clinic for over 14 years of caring for him.
A graveside service will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 1:30 pm with a celebration of life to be held at Deerwood Country Club from 3 to 5pm.
