Albert P. Chemay, 65, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully February 18, 2024. Bert was born in New Orleans, LA, the son of Louis J. Chemay and Ruth E. (Davenport) Chemay, and he was raised in La Place, LA. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1976-2001, retiring at the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Bert served aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise and the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, serving also through both Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
After the Navy, Bert joined the team at LSI, continuing to help design training courseware for military equipment, until retiring again in 2023. During his years of service, Bert also became well known in the Beaches and Five Points areas, playing guitar and singing with many other local entertainers. Music was always his passion, and he enjoyed entertaining wherever he played.
Bert is survived by: his two sons, Jordan D. Chemay (Cedartown, GA) and Jared L. Chemay (Jacksonville, FL); two grandsons: Joseph L. Chemay (Kindsland, GA) and Harrison P. Chemay (Waycross, GA). He also leaves three brothers: Frank L., Rick E., and Mark T. Chemay; one sister, Connie A. Chemay; as well as all of his nieces and nephews, and so many friends and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life is set for April 6, 2024 at 1:00pm Dolphin Plaza, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park located at 500 Wonderwood Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32233.

Entry passes for the park are available upon request to be sent through the mail if request received before Tuesday, April 2nd. Please call/text Jared Chemay at (904) 237-9911 to request a pass. Without a pass, guests can mention at the entry gate that they're there for the service to receive the discounted $3 entry fee.
Burial will be in Louisiana at a later date.
