Allen Powers Bowen, Jr., (Al)

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Al Bowen, age 73, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. Al was deeply loved by all his family, friends and coworkers and will be greatly missed.

Al was born in Anniston, Alabama, on March 18th, 1951, to the late Martha Drucilla Walker and Allen Powers Bowen, Sr. When Al was in grade school his family moved to Erlanger, Kentucky, where he met many new friends and found his passion for football. He attended Lloyd Memorial High School where he and his buddies played for the Juggernauts. Many great memories and great stories came from this time in his life, and Al cherished each and every one of his lifelong friendships. And we can’t forget, it was here that he learned the famous “tuck and roll” technique that saved him from some pretty hairy tumbles.

After Al graduated high school, he went on to receive a degree in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. Al pursued a career in sales after college and went on to work for Xerox for a time. In 1979, Al moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and eventually joined the FACS Management team. It was here that he met Patty Clifford, the love of his life, and on October 25, 1986, his wife. It was also here that he met many new friends that have led to lifelong friendships and times filled with great memories and adventures.

Al and Patty went on to found Amtech Computer Services, a business supporting Hobart Service Contractors with their accounting and mobile software needs. They have operated Amtech Computer Services side by side for 36 years, with their relationship guided by a deep love and respect for each other. Al’s leadership and guidance for the business has been top notch, and his respect and love for his coworkers has been unprecedented. Al was loved and respected by all at Amtech.

Al is survived by his wife Patricia (Clifford) Bowen, sister Hulda Jane Pappas, niece Christina Nikole Pappas (Charlie Provost), and grand-niece Patty Mae Provost. Al is also survived by his loving in-laws, many long-term close friends and extended family.

Al was a born salesman and successful businessman. He will be remembered for his strong leadership, business savvy, and strong work ethic. He was a people person through and through and was loved by all who met him. We will miss you Al, but rest assured you left an amazing legacy that will live on.

As per Al’s wishes, he will be cremated with no funeral or memorial service held.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 18th at 2:00pm at the Casa Marina Hotel in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Throughout the afternoon there will be hors d'oeuvres and refreshments as we share memories of Al. Please RSVP by March 1st using the following link: allen.bowen.condolences@amtechcs.com.

Rest in peace Big Al – We Love you!
