Alma Lena Myers (ne Tanner), a faithful servant and steward of her Lord, was called to her eternal home on May 22, 2024, at the age of 74. Born in Palatka, Florida, on February 22, 1950, Alma walked humbly through her earthly journey, always embodying the virtues of devotion, love, and gratitude in every role she undertook.
Her life was an embodiment of Psalm 100:2, "Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing." Alma's voice was a testament to her love for sacred music, lifting every note in praise as she sang with the choir at Glad Tidings of Jacksonville. Her ministry work reflected her respect for all of God's creation, touching lives with her generosity of spirit and unwavering compassion.
Alma's legacy of care and loving-kindness is carried on by her loving husband of over 40 years, Dean Myers; her son, Chris Myers, and his wife Cara; her cherished grandson, Camden; her daughter, Shelly Orozco, and her granddaughter, Yezenia; Son, Scott Hedrick, and her sister, Louise Wood. She now reunites with those who have gone before her into the Kingdom of Heaven: her parents, Oliver and Alice Tanner; her brother, William; and her aunt, Alma Tyson.
Alma's journey began with her education at Palatka High School and later moved to Jacksonville. With Alma's gentle passing, the world has lost a beacon of Christ's love, but her spirit will continue to guide those she has left behind.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Alma's life at her beloved Glad Tidings of Jacksonville, where they can join in honoring her memory by embodying the principles she held dear: humility, grace, and unwavering faith. In remembrance of Alma's life of selfless giving, contributions may be made to the church that was close to her heart
