Anna Bernal, 78, of Jacksonville, FL passed away December 1, 2018, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She won that battle, for she is finally free. She was born to parents John and Anna Bednarik on August 6, 1940 at home on Berry Street in Brooklyn NY. She was the youngest of three children. She went to Holy Family Catholic School and later on Washington Irving High School in Manhattan. After graduation, she went to work for a large insurance company where she was a key punch operator. She enjoyed two wonderful marriages, four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She loved life fully and enjoyed her retirement by traveling and enjoying the company her family and friends. She was blessed with great friends - she never knew a stranger.
Anna was predeceased by both of her husbands - Leo Caputo, then Frederick Bernal. She is survived by her sister, Mary Henchar, her brother Julius Bednarik, her children, Lee Anne Caputo, Audrey Caputo, Laura Rooney and Frederick Bernal, Jr. Her grandchildren, Kate Long, Dakota Allen, Christopher Bernal, Dylan Allen, Kiana Bernal, Madison Allen, Danika Bernal and her great grandson, Jensen Long. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews that she all held dearly in her heart. She leaves behind countless number of friends who all touched her life, each in a special way.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at Lindenhurst Funeral Home. Her funeral will follow on Saturday December 8th, 2018.
