Anne Calhoun Lomax Billy (89) was born Jan. 22, 1929 in St.Vincent's Hospital to George Erskin Lomax and Edna Wellbrock Nicholson and passed away Dec. 20,2018. Born and raised in Jacksonville, she attended Fishweir Elem., John Gorrie Jr. High, Lake Shore Jr. High and Robert E. Lee High, class of 1946, and then graduated from FSU in 1950. Anne's grandparents were charter members at Trinity Lutheran Church and through the years, Trinity played an important role in her life, as she was baptized, confirmed, and met and married the love of her life, William (Bill) Billy there in April 1953. Together in marriage for 65 years, they raised 3 sons who were also all baptized, confirmed and married at Trinity. Anne always enjoyed children and taught at Hyde Park Elem. from 1951-1958. After taking time out to raise her family, she proceeded to teach 4thgrade at Cedar Hills Baptist Church School, until retiring in 1992. Always proud of her Southern heritage, Anne enjoyed genealogical research and loved going on "bones trips" with her family. She documented proven lineages that allowed her to join numerous genealogical societies, such as the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, Southern Genealogical Society and Southern Dames, and she served in many board positions - too numerous to count.
Her greatest joy in life was in loving and supporting her husband, sons, and their families and being surrounded by family and friends, all who now will dearly miss her. As a lady of quiet dignity and grace, through all the indignities of getting old, she never complained.
Anne is preceded in death by her loving parents and her brother, George Lomax. She is survived by her loving husband; sons William (Karen), Chris (Krissy), Kyle (Janice); grandchildren Robert Billy, Jillian Litchfield (Eddy), Amanda Billy, Rachel Mallory (Andrew); great grandsons Noah, Finnegan, Owen, Milo; nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends and family. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Windsor and Community Hospice for their care and compassion.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1415 S. McDuff Ave. on Monday, December 31st at 10:00 am followed by a reception.
