Barbara Jean Coleman Richardson, 83, has taken her journey to heaven to join her husband of 52 years W. Leville Richardson. She was born July 19, 1931 to Leonard J. and Pearl Johnson Coleman in Jacksonville, FL. She attended Fishweir Elementary, Lake Shore Jr. High and Robert E. Lee High School graduating in 1949. She is survived by 2 sisters, Shirley (Jack) White of Valrico, FL; Nita Buchanan of Atlantic Beach; 2 adult children, Kevin L. Richardson and Lisa R. Deary (Russell) both of Jacksonville, 2 grandsons, Ryan Deary and Kevin L. Richardson Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
She was admired and loved by all that knew her as a loving, caring and compassionate friend. She was a resident of The Windsor of Ortega. Barbara was a strong Christian, an active member of her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church and a member of First United Methodist Church. She shared inspiring devotionals with organizations in which she was involved.
Barbara's career was as an executive secretary working for several community organizations and she volunteered with the Children Home Society of Florida and Volunteers in Medicine. She was an active member of The Laurel Garden Circle for 40 years, a long time member of The Book Club of Jacksonville and Timuquana Country Club.
A Visitation will be held 10:00 am with Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 225 E Duval Street Downtown Jacksonville. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Reverend Richard A. Petry and Reverend Tony Chance officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's honor to Children Home Society of Florida,3027 San Diego Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 and Volunteers in Medicine, 41 E Duval St, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
