LIEBTAG III Benford "Ben" Gustav, 77, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2019, after a brief illness. Liebtag was a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering earning a BS in Electrical Engineering. Upon moving to Jacksonville forty years ago, he co-founded and served as president of the consulting-engineering firm Liebtag, Robinson and Wingfield. During his career, he donated his time and expertise to many charitable building projects, including the local Ronald McDonald House's construction. Liebtag was a member of Arlington United Methodist Church, former member and secretary of the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Association of Energy Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). ASHRAE recognized his outstanding contributions to the field of engineering with a Merit Award, as well as a Distinguished Service Award. He is predeceased by his parents, Alice and Benford Liebtag, Jr., and former wife of thirty years, Cindy Liebtag. He is survived by his partner, Vera Hibbs; daughter, Cindy Scavelli; son-in-law, Eric Scavelli; grandson, Connor; granddaughter, Charlotte; son, Ben Liebtag; daughter- in-law, Anna Liebtag; and granddaughters, Emma and Kaitlynn, all of Jacksonville. Family and friends will celebrate his life on February 15th at 11am at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Ronald McDonald House in remembrance.
