We are sad to announced the passing of Brian James Stevens, 60, of Jacksonville, Florida.
Brian Stevens, son of James and Geraldine Stevens, was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on December 28th, 1962. After graduating Dupont High School in Hermitage, Tennessee in 1981, Brian Joined the United States Navy as an aircraft electrician (AE) and served for four years concluding his military career at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Remaining in the Northwest Florida area for his love of Pensacola, he began his career as a civilian aircraft electrician for Navy Air Civilian Depot Employment (NADEP). Brian met Shellane in 1986 and were wed in 1991 in Milton, Florida and had one child, Kyle Patrick Stevens, born in 1994. Brain worked his way up to become an aircraft maintenance supervisor for Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida until his retirement in 2021.
Brian had an unquenchable thirst for history and knowledge. He was often spending his spare time researching topics of interest and reading books. He enjoyed watching the latest movie releases and Minnesota Vikings football games. Whenever surrounded by company Brian loved the opportunity for discussing fun facts and storytelling. Brian loved the outdoors and the water and often reminisced his boating and fishing memories during his early days in Pensacola, Florida. Brian's time with his colleagues as an aircraft electrician and eventually supervisor brought him a sense of meaningful community and purpose. He was an incredible father, Brian loved spending quality time with his son, Kyle and loved speaking life into him. He never passed the opportunity to encourage him and tell him how much he loved him. His vibrant personality, friendliness, and wisdom will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and former colleagues.
In August 2020, after being diagnosed diabetes, Brian's health began to decline. His disease progressed causing other health complications over the following 2 years. As a result, Brian passed away in his sleep on January 5th 2023 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Geraldine Stevens, and survived by his son Kyle, brothers Mark and Tom, sisters Rene and Shana, and spouse Shellane.
Services will be held Saturday, January 21st at Naugle funeral home in Jacksonville, Florida at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
