Brian Jeffrey Swingler, 24, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 28, 2016. He was born on November 18, 1991 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is survived by his mother Kristina Swingler, father Ronald Earl Swingler, Jr., brother Joseph Earl Swingler, sister in law Crystal Swingler, nephew Benjamin Swingler, grandmother Shirley Kenney, grandmother Judith Swingler, grandfather Ronald Earl Swingler, Sr., as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins.
After high school, Brian moved to Jacksonville, FL to live with his mother and attend Tulsa Welding School. He did not realize it at the time, but he was an excellent welder, graduating near the top of his class. Brian’s passion for welding was remarkable. Recently he had gained employment restoring the USS Iwo Jima in hopes of advancing in his career as a welder.
Aside from his passion for welding, as all who knew him knows, Brian loved animals and had a special gift of gaining their love and trust, even from those that do not usually take to strangers. Within minutes the dogs or cats he befriended would be relaxed and eagerly waiting for Brian to pet them and play. He just adopted a new kitty at Christmas, named Princess.
Upon Brian’s passing, he was able to donate his organs and save multiple lives. Because of his gift, four families will continue to have their loved ones in their lives.
A memorial service celebrating Brian’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Thalia United Methodist Church, 4321 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
