Bruce William Rehmer, age 69, passed away on October 8, 2017 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Born June 12, 1948 in Albany NY, Bruce grew up near Kingston New York.
He enlisted in the Army in 1966 and served his country during the Vietnam War. A true patriot Bruce loved our great nation. Hardly ever without a veterans cap perched upon his head, he beamed with pride whenever a fellow American stopped to welcome him home and thank him for his service. During his time he was active in many local veterans organizations in the Virginia/Washington D.C. area and in Jacksonville, Florida. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) in Washington, D.C and The Jacksonville National Cemetery were among those projects important to him. Bruce was a life member of The American Legion, DAV and VFW as well as The Military Honor of the Purple Heart.
Bruce's greatest sense of pride and joy came from his family. His love for his children was boundless.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen Gentzel Rehmer; his treasured children Josh, Erin and Brendan, and his cherished grandchildren; Aschur Liam, Anna Lee, and Maya Lilly. Numerous other dear family members are from the Albany, NY and Kingston, NY area.
Bruce longed for the peace and beauty of the Adirondack Mountains near where he grew up. His family will make a final trip there to scatter his ashes in the mountain breeze.
Stranger to none, friend to many, his spirit will shine on whenever we remember his gregarious nature, generosity, encouraging words, patriotism, sometimes not so reverent tales, and his love of animals and all sports particularly his NY Mets, Maryland Terrapins and Jacksonville Jaguars.
An Irish rebel at heart, Bruce was proud of his Irish heritage. His trip to Ireland with his wife was a special memory for both of them. Whether you be near or far, raise your glass to him in fond farewell as his family celebrates his life at Culhane's Irish Pub on Sunday, November 12 in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
Formal, private services will be announced at a later date.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
