Cecil Sellers made his way to our Lord in Heaven on March 17, 2021. He fought a courageous and hard 2 1/2 year fight against Pancreatic Cancer, while never forgetting and fighting for and loving his family and friends. The World, his family and friends (both at the time and to come) were blessed when Cecil was born to the late YC Sellers and Inez (Dyson) in 1947 in Mobile, AL and soon after blessed with 6 siblings, ALL sisters! Cecil began his long and distinguished life and career stationed in Germany while serving in the US Army where his love and dedication to his country continued after his honorable discharge. His most precious moment occured nearly four decades ago when he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Marie (Rabun). They were instantly connected and enamored with one another's charm, love, and dedication to each other. In addition to his beloved wife Marie, Cecil is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Robert and April (Rabun), sisters Bessie (Wilson), Debbie Sellers, Margie and husband John (Eason), Norma and Ricky (Gilliard). Also left to love and remember Cecil are many nieces and nephews and many more family and friends, especially longtime and childhood friend, Donnie Pollett. Cecil was predeceased by his parents, YC Sellers and Inez (Dyson) and sister Diane Sellers. Cecil spent his long and distinguished life and career stationed in Germany while serving in the US Army where his love and dedication to his country continued after his honorable discharge. Cecil loved many hobbies, including and most of all, his love of Crimson (Roll) Tide, Alabama college football.
A loving message from his loving wife Carolyn Marie Sellers: "My Husband, Best Friend and always the love of my Life. I have loved him from the first day I met him. He was a very kind and generous man. He treated me, our son, Robert Rabun, and daughter-in-law, April Rabun, like we were idols. Our son and daughter-in-law were his care-givers during his final three months. They took very good care of him while I was away in physical rehabilitation. I am so thankful for them.
Thank you for the best 34 years of my life. I love you babe, Your Baby Marie, until we meet again in heaven."
From his son Robert: "To my dad, Cecil, I am so proud you've passed on to be with our Lord God but everyday since, the days have been very hard and sad for me. I want to take this time to remember and honor the special memories I had with my you. You, along with my mom, have always been the two heroes in my life. You showed me how to face life with patience and bravery and I will always love, cherish, and miss you for who you were and always will be to me.
April Rabun (daughter-in-law): "To the best father-in-law a daughter-in-law could have. Cecil was a kind soul. Put others comfortability over his own. If you ever needed anything he was right there to help without any complaints. I enjoyed our talks about his family, his long time companion Greta, his white pitbull and being in the army. Plus, how he knew karate. He said he would fight for his loved ones. Cecil never had a selfish bone in his body. He would say nobody better not mess with his wife, his sister's, his son Robert and his wife April or he will give them a good education, a backyard kick in the butt."
Bessie Wilson (sister): "I loved my bubba very much. Thankful you were my brother and loved the rivalry we had about football you for Bama and me for Gators. Most thankful you accepted God as your Savior. Love you bubba."
Debra Sellers (sister): "Cecil you were a great brother and i love you and will miss you."
Margie Eason (sister): "My only brother you were the best you'll be in my heart forever, love and miss you bubba."
John Eason (brother-in-law): "Cecil Sellers my spiritual brother Cecil never was a great speaker but his life spoke volumes of his kindness and love to his fellow man he would be more than a friend to those who would allow him to do so yes we shall meet again St John 14th chapter love you bud."
Norma and Ricky Gilliard (sister and brother-in-law): "To the best brother anyone could ever have we love you so much and we will miss you with all our heart for we hold to the scripture with God's word says we will see you again in heaven love you brother always."
Angela Masteller (niece): "Uncle Cecil was a good fun loving Uncle. He had a sweet heart. I am going to miss you so much Uncle Cecil."
Robert Companion (nephew): "Uncle Cecil was always quick to smile and slow to anger. His calming presence and patience were ever present. He proudly shared his experiences in Germany and in driving the "deuce and a half". All men have their faults, but the only one I ever witnessed in my Uncle Cecil, was his love for the Crimson Tide. Uncle Cecil will be missed tremendously by those of us who loved him."
Russell Companion (nephew): "Uncle Cecil I love and miss you. You are forever in my heart forever and I know I will see you one day soon again love you."
And we will ALL, be forever thankful for and never forget Dr. Brown (VA), Dr. Luke, Justin, and the countless others who were all part of Cecil's wonderful cancer team (UF Health North), and all of the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at Baptist Downtown who, everyday, made his final days with all of us happy and comfortable.
In lieu of flowers and in loving memory, our family asks everyone to donate to www.pancan.org < http://www.pancan.org/ > - The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
We will ALL miss you, and look forward to all being together again.
