Reverend Linton was a servant and warrior for the Lord Jesus Christ, a retired minister for the Church of God, and a member of Restoration Church. His ministry spanned approximately 70 years and he continued to minister even after he officially retired from the Church of God. He had the heart of a pastor and loved people unconditionally. Reverend Linton was also a pastor's pastor and counseled many friends and colleagues in the ministry during his lifetime. He was known for his godly wisdom and advice and was sought out repeatedly as a mentor to many young pastors when they were first starting their ministries. His colleagues, friends, family and church members had the utmost respect for him, not just because of the way he lived his life, but also because they knew they could speak with him in confidence and it would never be repeated to anyone. He was nominated numerous times to serve on various boards and committees within the Church of God and served two terms as the North Florida Evangelism Director, where he traveled extensively to all churches in his district as support for other pastors and to organize new churches. He organized and held the first Father/Son Day at the Wimauma Church of God Campground, in addition to the very first Senior Adult Retreat held at Wimauma.
He was proud of the fact that he was very often mistaken for Billy Graham wherever he went. He had an infectious smile and laugh and also had a rich baritone voice that when he spoke, some who have sat under his ministry have likened to sounding like God talking!
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff a Ft. Caroline Gardens and Haven Hospice for their love, kindness, and dedication in caring for our father.
