Charlotte Miller passed away on Wednesday the 4th of October, 2017. She was met by so many that had gone before her that she was not alone walking across the Rainbow Bridge. Born Charlotte Ann Barkley March 8, 1945 in Selma, AL she was 72. She is predeceased by her parents Bill and Ann Barkley. She is survived by her devoted son Paul Grey Miller, III and her loving sister, Barbara Barkley Estes. Charlotte was a graduate of Terry Parker High School where she became part of the National Honors Society in her sophomore year. She attended Florida State University before eventually obtaining her Bachelors in Science in Medical Technology from Jacksonville University. She worked many years at the then Baptist Hospital rising to Director Level of the laboratory. She left there to give birth to her much-loved son, Grey. She firmly believed that Grey was always the greatest of her accomplishments and the one thing she was most proud of. When Charlotte returned to the work force she did so as head of the laboratory at Riverside Clinic.
Charlotte first began to show her Siberian Husky, Nicky in obedience trials and it was shortly after that she was introduced to the world of dog conformation shows or a breed show. She took the bait and was hooked. Charlotte then changed breeds in the Working Group and fell in love with Akitas. Her first Akita was Kuma and he stole all of our hearts. All during this time Charlotte began to meet people, she never met a stranger and she could talk to anyone about her beloved dogs. Charlotte was a strong, vibrant woman who was bigger than life to those that knew her and loved her. She loved her family and friends and it has been shared by countless stories of those that Charlotte knew in the world of dogs. She later went on to become a breeder of Shiba Inus and a handler of most breeds. Her passion for showing outside of the Shiba ring most certainly went to the Flat Coated Retrievers. She enjoyed her life with her dogs and made those around her always feel special. She loved helping others with their animals and always shared "there is no group of people that are more giving than dog people".
She was a member of the JDFA (Jacksonville Dog Fancier Association) and Shiba Club of America. What else can you say about her? She was a daughter a mother a sister a friend. She was loved and will be missed.
The family will be having a celebration of her life on Sunday, the 22nd of October, 2017 between 2-4. It will be at the Embassy Suites on Baymeadows Road.
