Claudia Lee Naugle, 81 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born in Jacksonville Florida on May 7th, 1942 to John Lee and Mary Boyle Naugle. She graduated from Landon High School in 1959 and Florida State University in 1962. After college, she worked as a social worker for the State of Florida in Jacksonville and in Miami. Before beginning her 29 year Federal career, she ran a bookmobile for the Leon County Library in Tallahassee. Her first Federal job was as a contract negotiator for the Air Force, stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. She transferred to Air Force Headquarters at the Pentagon in 1972 and served as a Procurement Analyst on the Air Staff. She managed protests filed with the General Accounting Office and inquiries from Congress. During the decade of the 1980's, she served as Deputy and Acting Director of the Air Force Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization. She transferred to the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 1990, where she served as Deputy Director and Executive Editor for the Defense Acquisition Regulations Council.
Upon retiring in 1995, she returned to Florida to care for her mother and settled in Atlantic Beach. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, Jacksonville and a lifelong civil rights advocate. She was a member of the Southern Genealogist's Exchange Society and the Texas Wendish Heritage Society. She was a member of the Amelia Island Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and served a term as historian.
She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her dear friend Nancy Ladd, by her brother John Stanley Naugle (Mary Walker), by her nephews Jonathan Shaun Naugle, John Orie Naugle (Laurie) and Charles Cade Naugle (Kathy), and by grandnephews Jacob Dillon Naugle, Jordan Tyler Naugle, and John Bayer Naugle and by grandnieces Jamie Carin Fredericks (Justin) and Broward Leigh Naugle.
Graveside services in Oaklawn Cemetery will be private. She will be laid to rest with her parents and grandmothers. Naugle Funeral Home is serving the family.
