Damon Christopher Allen, 55, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2024. Born on February 18, 1969, in Jacksonville to Gerald Wayne Allen and Sharon Spence Allen, Damon spent his childhood in his hometown, where he developed a love for sports, family, and learning. He attended the Bolles School, where he was a key player on the school's first football team to win a state championship. Damon graduated from Bolles in 1987, leaving behind a legacy of teamwork and dedication.
After high school, Damon attended the University of Georgia, earning a degree in German with minors in French and business. He was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, where he made lifelong friends and fully embraced his college experience. Damon's academic focus reflected his intellectual curiosity and love for different cultures and languages. He later pursued legal studies at NOVA Southeastern University School of Law, where he deepened his knowledge of the law and justice system.
Damon also had a successful career with Northwestern Mutual Insurance, where he built lasting relationships with clients and colleagues. His professionalism, work ethic, and care for others defined his time there.
An avid sportsman, Damon was passionate about football, particularly following his alma mater's Georgia Bulldogs. He loved playing golf, participating in shooting sports, and engaging in thoughtful political discussions. Damon was known for his wit, charm, and enthusiasm for life.
Above all, Damon cherished his family. He is survived by his mother, Sharon S. Allen; his sisters, Shaunna Allen White (DeWayne) and Lolli Cornelius (Jackie Solmos) and his beloved nieces, Evelyn Olivia White and Addisen Aubrey White. Damon's role as a loving uncle brought him great joy, and his nieces held a special place in his heart. Damon is also survived by his extended family aunts, Patricia Davis (Donald) and Linda Edwards, and his uncle, Donald Allen (Teri). His cousins include Tori Davis, Erin Burns (Rick), Annie Collins (David), Daniel Davis, Derek Davis, Crista Dougherty (John), and Stephanie Combs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Wayne Allen; his paternal grandparents, Ivey C. Allen Jr. and Naomi Allen; and his maternal grandparents, Ernest Oliver Spence and Evelyn Guinn Spence and his cousins Joshua Allen and Chera Edwards.
A visitation will be held in Damon's honor on Tuesday, October 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, October 16, at Sardis Cemetery in Folkston, Georgia, where Damon will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Damon Christopher Allen will be remembered for his intellect, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
