David Linwood (Link) Cooper, age 73, of Fernandina Beach passed away November 4 th , 2023, at The Cove at Marsh Landing in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Cooper Smith and a brother-in-law Rob Calder. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynne M. Cooper, his brother Charles (Sue) Cooper, his sister Marjo (Tom) Cooper Anliker, his son Mason (Sara) Cooper, and his granddaughter Kelsey Cooper. Other survivors include sister-in-law Patricia Calder, sister-in-law Beth Calder, brother-in-law John (Karen) Calder, brother-in-law Andrew (Donna) Calder, and brother-in-law Nick (Sarah) Calder. He was born the youngest son of Charles and Marjorie (Polly) Cooper on September 22, 1950, in Akron, Ohio. The family moved to Henry, Illinois in 1957. He graduated from Henry Senachwine High School in 1968, served in the US Army from 1970-1973, and graduated from Illinois State University in 1976. He retired in 2010 after many years of service with the Department of Defense. He had a multitude of hobbies and interests. He was a private pilot, licensed amateur radio operator, Boy Scout leader, avid scuba diver, amateur magician (much to the delight of his many nieces and nephews), skilled woodworker, and talented photographer. He was also passionate about astronomy and was a member of the NE FL Astronomical Society. He shared his love of the night sky with the residents of Fernandina Beach by holding many "Star-Talks" with his telescope. A celebration of life will
be held in the Atlanta area in January.
