Denver Miller Brewer, 92 of Middleburg, FL, went peacefully to be with his Lord Monday, January 22, 2018 in Orange Park, FL.
He was born June 11, 1925 on his grandfather's farm in White Top, VA where he lived until he was 7. Throughout his life he lived in many different places, including Washington, DC, West Virginia, New Jersey, England and finally in Jacksonville and Middleburg, FL. He married Barbara (Graham) March 3, 1961 in Patterson, NJ. Denver worked for Stone & Webster until the early 70's, then for the City of Jacksonville where he retired as a Mechanical Inspector. He owned and operated Big D Heating & AC until the age of 80. He was raised as a Master Mason at William B Barnett Lodge #187 (Jacksonville) and was a Past Master of Middleburg Lodge #107. Denver was a faithful member of Middleburg UMC, serving on Trustees and the Building committee. He also led several Disciple Bible Study groups over the years, worked at the Food Bridge and was an usher on Sunday mornings teaching many teenagers how to serve as ushers.
Denver was the loving husband of Barbara (Graham) Brewer. Beloved father of Dale (Joyce) Brewer Paducah, KY; Douglas C. (Phyllis) Brewer, Ft. Pierce, FL; and Teresa M. Brewer, Middleburg, FL. He is survived by his brother, Ronald (Jan) Brewer of Baroda, MI, sisters Delores (Robert) Goings of Palm Coast, FL and Joanne (Monroe) Saunders of Melbourne, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christine Brewer; Douglas Brewer Jr; Kristen (Brewer) Cerini and Arthur J. (AJ) Brewer, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved.
Denver was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Arthur & Ola (Miller) Brewer, and brother Guy Brewer. He is also preceded by 3 wonderful aunts (Grace Jackson, Anna Grimes and Edith Jones) who helped raise him, and a special uncle, Carol Miller.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 3:00PM in the main sanctuary of Middleburg United Methodist Church (3925 Main Street, Middleburg) followed by Masonic Funeral rites. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 to 3:00PM at Middleburg UMC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Denver's name to Middleburg UMC capital fund or Haven Hospice of Orange Park, FL.
