Diane Heard Singh, our beautiful, brilliant, and dear mom, transitioned to be with God on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 6:03 pm in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 78. Diane was surrounded by her beloved family Anneliese Amanda Singh (daughter), Ravinder Hilton Singh (son), and Lauren Lukkarila (daughter-in-law) during her passing. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kaylee Singh and Hilton Singh, whom she loved very much. Diane was born "Melbra Diane Heard" in Monroe, Louisiana on August 1, 1943 to her parents, Jesse Hilton Heard and Nell Sullivan Heard. She is survived by her older brother, Skip Heard, and lost her younger brother John Heard early in life. Diane graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelor's degree in medical technology, where she was a DJ and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. After moving to New Orleans, she worked at Ochsner and Charity hospitals. Diane met and fell in love with Jasbir Mahajan Singh in 1968. They were set up on a date by mutual friends and married 4 months later. Diane and Jasbir traveled the world together before the arrival of their daughter and son and shared a love of learning, adventure, friends, and fun. Diane cherished being a mother and poured her entire heart into her children's upbringing and gifted them with her values of education and the opportunity to engage in sports and music. She also had several long-term friendships that meant the world to her, and her friends enjoyed her good humor and positive outlook during good and challenging times. Diane had a great love for animals and especially loved her cats, Serina, Amber, Maya, Buttercup, and Harriet. Diane was a deeply curious, inquisitive, and spiritual person, exploring multiple religious faiths during her life (Methodist, Sikh, Unity, Baptist, Catholic). Her connection to God brought her much comfort, guidance, and joy throughout her life. Diane always reminded those she loved that our "last breath on earth would be our first breath in heaven," and she encouraged people in her life to "live like heaven on earth." As her children, we are grateful for her unconditional love and our everlasting connection to her beyond this life. A private "Celebration of Life" to honor Diane crossing this sacred threshold between life and death will be held by the family in Jacksonville Beach - where she enjoyed meaningful times with her family during the last two years of her life.
