Donald Hinson

Donald Blackmon Hinson passed away January 11, 2024, at Some Place Like Home in Jacksonville, Florida, at age 85. He was born January 12, 1938, in Lancaster County, South Carolina. Don was the son of Brice and Fannie Lee Blackmon Hinson. He was a faithful loving husband to his late wife, Lorraine, during their marriage of 55 years. He was also a great step father to the late Bruce Stacy.
Don was a graduate of University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a diligent accountant for the Jacksonville Shipyard for many years. He attended a Methodist church near his previous home.
Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Lorraine Beland Hinson, his stepson, Bruce Stacy, in addition to his siblings, Frances Hinson Hunter, William Hinson, and Brice Hinson Jr. He is survived by a niece, Katina Hunter Verzi (Salvatore), a great niece, Tiffany Brown (Matthew), and several cousins.
A very special thank you to all of the staff at Some Place Like Home who took wonderful care of Don during the last year of his life, as well as Community Hospice. Also, a thank you to Maria Kelly and Jennifer Hein for their professional services to care for Don, and to a special friend, Sheila, who was faithful to visit and care for Don as well.
