Ms. Dorothy Sue "Dot" Abrams (Shortridge) passed away on July 22, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL at the age of 70.
Dorothy is survived by her children Debra "Debbie" Rigdon, Michael Nipper (Beverly), and Steve Nipper. Ten grandchildren Amber Rigdon-Harris, Ricky Rigdon (Lauren), Halie House, Michael Roy Nipper, Noah Nipper, Jacob Nipper, Madisun "Maddie" Nipper, Carter Nipper, Brock Nipper and Ashley Durrence. Great grandchildren Abbey Harris and Emilee Rigdon. Six brothers and sisters Gloria Poore, Louis Shortridge, Mary Jane McEwen, Joyce Stephenson, Sharon Washington (Chester), John Shortridge, Jr. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents John & Virginia (Estes) Shortridge, son Eddie Durrence, brothers Freddy Whitney and Bobby Whitney and sister Rosa Miller.
Dorothy was born on July 6, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL to John & Virginia Shortridge. She attended Jean Ribault High School. She retired from Colomer USA after 25 years of dedication, in 2007.
Dot loved to fish, go dancing and all of the beloved pets she cared for over the years. She would never fail to tell you what was on her mind, and had the sweetest soul to accompany that. She will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew her.
A memorial is scheduled for July 28, 2017 at Naugle Funeral Home 1203 Hendrix Ave Jacksonville FL 32207 (904) 396-1611 with a reception to follow at her daughter's home. Mr. Gary Cohen will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy's life
