Earle Jay Hahn (Dad / EJ / Lakebum / Hotdog) died peacefully with his family at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida the morning after Christmas, 2017 at the age of 77.
EJ is survived by his daughter Michelle Hahn Vrooman and her husband Michael Vrooman of Fleming Island, Florida, his son Eric Hahn of Birmingham, Alabama and daughter Monique Hahn, of Birmingham, AL and his children's mother, Pat Dowdy Hahn, of Birmingham, AL. His brother, Chris Hahn (Jocelyn Hahn) and nephews Stephen and Troy Hahn, of Dothan, AL, his brother Greg Hahn (wife Suzie) and nephew Greg Hahn, of Coral Springs, Florida, his brother Tim Hahn (wife Tarry) of Stockton, NY.
He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Penny Hahn of Cherry Creek, New York and his Granddaughter, Raquel.
EJ was born in Buffalo, NY on May 16, 1942. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1957.
He retired from the Air Force in 1980 in Montgomery, AL. While in the Air Force, he experienced living in many exciting places and met great lifelong friends. He was an expert in his field, computer systems analyst, and won many awards for his talent. He was pitcher for the Air Force fast pitch softball team for many years, it was a passion of his.
He loved boating on Lake Martin, AL, sunning on the beach, and riding the Blue Ridge parkway. Many fun memories were made at his lake house. He loved to grill and drew crowds from all over the lake anticipating his beautiful fireworks displays. He was a gracious host and loved nothing more than to entertain family and friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Lake Martin, AL All are welcome to attend and celebrate. We hope that you can send any photo's and/or stories to
