Edgar A. Laird, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Ed was born in April 8, 1930 and was raised in Kearny, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Kearny High School and part of the first MBA class to graduate Farleigh Dickinson University. Ed was an accountant by profession and served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Ed lived most of his working life in Seaside Park, New Jersey. He was happiest at the beach and had many long-time friends that lived in the neighborhood that he had known since he was a teenager. He took great pride in his home and loved entertaining friends. He had an amazing tomato and flower garden and won “Best Garden in Seaside Park” at least once. Ed was an incredible caregiver to those that he loved. Ed was an amazing uncle to Bill and David and most enjoyed spoiling them. Ed took care of his mom until her passing in 1981. He was known to help his older neighbors in Seaside Park and would take them to the grocery store and help with other needed errands. Later in life, Ed also took care of his twin brother Bill who moved into his home for two years during a challenging time for his health, before Bill moved to Florida. Ed has lived in Orange Park, Florida since 2010 with his brother, who predeceased him in 2015. His is survived by his nephews Bill (Michelle) and David (Ginny), two grandnieces (Courtney, Sophia) and two grandnephews (Will, Grant). A public service followed by a reception will be held on March 19, 2016 at the Union Church of Seaside Park, New Jersey. He will be buried with a private ceremony at Riverside Cemetery in Toms River, New Jersey.
