Edgar Charles Woodbury III, 81, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018. He was born August 20, 1936 in Wilmington, NC to the late, Edgar Charles Woodbury II & Lillian Isabell (Sanders) Woodbury Paul. He attended New Hanover HS playing football and basketball. He studied science and math at Wilmington Jr., St. John's River Jr. and JU. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served 4 years of active duty during the Korean War as a Fire Control Radar Tech and 8 years in the Navy Reserves as a Radioman in communication technology and flew in submarine chasers. Atlantic Coastline brought him to Jacksonville, FL. in 1960. He retired from CSX Railroad after 37 and half years as a Sr. Systems Analyst. Charles is survived by his wife, Katie, of 43 years; his sister Sue LaByer; his four children Charlie Woodbury (Tammy), Rebecca Musso, Jenny Michelle Weddington (Yancy), and Gail Hendrix (Jerrald); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His biggest joys in life were being a Christian and his family. He took pleasure traveling in the U.S., as well as, abroad. Charles loved modern technology of computers and smartphones. He enjoyed spending time with his CSX-OFC buddies, church and longtime friends. Last but not least, Charles was an avid FSU Seminole fan. A �Celebration of Life' will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, January 27th at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southside United Methodist Church, American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
