Elizabeth “Betty” McLain Martin, 67, went to be with Lord on Friday, November 14 with her friends and family beside her. Betty was born in Talladega, AL to Howard Merrill McLain and Laura Elizabeth Horne McLain. She was a retired high school teacher of Duval County Schools, where she taught Spanish and English. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Auburn University, where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma. She continued to passionately support Auburn football throughout her life. She was a member of Ortega United Methodist Church for 43 years, loved to support her kids in athletics, academics and performances. Her interests ranged from dinners with friends, Bible study, Garden club, caring for grandchildren, politics, SEC football, sewing, her cats and pet rescue. She was known for her sweet and caring nature, unwavering Faith and love for the Auburn Tigers. She is survived by fiancé of 17 years, Thomas Dekle Teate, son George E. Martin lll (Christie), and daughter Merrill DeCamp, as well as granddaughters Elizabeth “Liza” Belle DeCamp, Allison Jane and Peyton Grace Martin.
