Elma Aguilar Santa Olaya, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 16, 2023, while surrounded by members of her loving family. "Momma Elma" was born on August 15, 1931, in Isarog, Camarines Sur, Philippines. The daughter of the late Ramona Fernando Aguilar and late Francisco Aguilar. She was a survivor of the Japanese invasion and occupation of her native homeland. She became an innovative entrepreneur following the war, in order to help provide for her family during those hard economic times. Utilizing her culinary skills, she cooked and created different dishes and treats and sold them in the market place. Providing for her own growing family, and also her younger siblings as well. A testament to the love and care that "Momma Elma" showed to her family then, and all of the days of her life.


In 1996, at the age of 64, Elma retired and relocated to the United States, to live with her oldest daughter in Mississippi. Proudly becoming a naturalized United States citizen in 2004. Later, she moved to Pennsylvania to reside in the home of her sister, Promencia, and moved again to Florida to reside with her daughter and son in law, in 2022.


In March of 2022, Elma became a member of the congregation of the Maranatha Baptist Church, in Jacksonville, Florida. A devout Christian, Elma loved attending church services, and the congregation adored her.


Ms. Elma is survived by four sisters. Mrs. Eva Hernandez, (widowed) Republic of the Philippines, Ms.


Ligaya Millburne, Ridgefield CT., Mrs. Promencia Campbell (Gary) New Bloomfield, PA., Mrs. Wilhelmina Barshinger, (Rodney) Jonestown, PA. "Momma Elma" is also survived by four children. Mrs. Soledad S. Williamson (Wayne) Jacksonville, FL., Natividad Abala (Roman) Philippines., Idelfonso Santa Olaya Jr. (Cristy) Philippines., Marcelo Santa Olaya (Ludelyn) Philippines. Fifteen grandchildren, three great- grandchildren. Numerous Cousins, along with many Nieces and Nephews


In addition to her parents, Elma was also preceded in death by three additional siblings. Reynaldo Aguilar, Edgardo Perez, and Nilo Perez. Her son, David Santa Olaya also preceded her in death.


A memorial service is planned to take place in the Republic of the Philippines, where her remains will be


interred in a grave, in the land that was her beloved home.
