Elton Wayne Kimes, age 39 of Jacksonville, FL passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on the morning of August 19, 2018.

Elton was born in Jacksonville on February 20, 1979 to Chester Glen and Sandra Lynn (Hakeos) Kimes. After attending Duval County Public Schools, he started his career in the family's construction business, defining him as a true craftsman and dedicated lifelong master carpenter. He married his childhood sweetheart Heather Elizabeth Wilburn and became the proud father of two wonderful sons: Elton "Little E" and Evan Kimes. Elton enjoyed traveling the United States for the construction industry. As a 1st responder, he would travel to natural disaster-stricken areas, to assist families displaced by total devastation. It was that moment he realized he could use the skills and knowledge he possessed to make this world a better place. When Elton was offered a job in Nigeria, as the Project Manager to construct Ebonyi State International University, he was happy to assist! It was there that Elton's decades of experience and ability galvanized into the true leader and friend he was that helped change those most poorly impacted in this world.

Elton was more dedicated than most, with the heart of a lion and soul of a martyr. While a man can be judged in many ways, Elton was measured by the virtue of his saint-like selflessness. He loved time spent helping family and friends. He would continually engage long days and workweeks to complete production goals. He liked to jokingly harass the "rookies" and teach the elders to infuse quality into their work. Elton had the passion of a drill instructor. It was once said "if you can work for Elton, you can work for anybody." Elton had the intensity, the discipline and the refusal to accept anything less than 110% effort and commitment on the part of his crew. He enjoyed his Africa travels where he expanded his circle of friends. Elton dedicated nearly all his free-time to helping others. Elton donated his earned monies to the needy people in Nigeria to minimize the harsh nature of their daily survival. He came to love all those he touched with his gift of altruism. Elton would literally give you "the shirt off his back" even if it was his last one. He loved spending time with his wife and children. Elton loved bringing his sons to work to teach them all about construction.

Elton lived for his family and friends. He loved reading about American history and politics. He was a loyal Florida Gators fan, and a huge Trump supporter!

His survivors include: his wife Heather (Wilburn) Kimes and their children Elton "Little E" and Evan Kimes; Parents: Chuck and Sandra (Hakeos) Kimes; Siblings: Chester Kimes, Amanda (Kimes) Fagan, and Zachary Kimes.
Elton's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 8th, 2018,1:00pm, at Riverside House, 2165 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204. A reception with light refreshments will follow the ceremony so all that loved him can gather and reflect on the life of this great man.
