S Frances Shields

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Elizabeth Shields of Ponte Vedra Beach Florida annouces that Fran passed away on June 4th, 2017 unexpectedly from post surgery complications.
Fran was born January 13, 1932 and enjoyed 85 years on this earth. Fran was the youngest of two daughters of Vincent and Mary Ciaudello, and they grew up in Valley Stream, New York. It was there that Fran met her husband James Shields, high school friends who fell in love and married Feb 5, 1955. Her husband Jim Shields passed away less than 9 months ago, Fran felt his lose deeply.
Newly married, Jim and Fran moved to Rockville Centre, New York and were blessed with 6 children Mary (Paul Schoepe) , Anthony, James, Michael (Karen) , William (Mary) and Joann (James Boyle). Her husband Jim owned a seat on the the American Stock Exchange where he traded stock options. His family roots ran deep in the “Wall Street” community. Fran was active in the Mercy League for the Local Catholic Hospital, was an avid golfer and tennis player. When her children were grown, she got her real estate license and worked in sales while also pursuing her college degree from Molloy College NY. Fran enjoyed her years with the Sweet Adelines singing chorus and sang competitively in Barbershop singing competitions throughout the tri-state area.
Upon retirement, Jim and Fran moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and spent the last 20+ years of their life here. She and Jim settled into the beach life and became involved in the local Community and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic church. Fran also worked for many years as a receptionist for the PGA tour.
They enjoyed golfing, traveling and being with their 16 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren who will dearly miss their grandma. Beloved wife, mom and grandmother; Fran will truly be missed.
A celebration of Life mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Monday June 19 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers , the family suggests that a donation be made in honor of Fran to the "James Shields Memorial fund" at Mission House - 800 Shetter Ave Jacksonville Beach Fl 32250, a charity close to the Shields families’ heart,,,
