On June 20, 2024, Francisco "Paquito/Frank" Luis Burgos, cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, esteemed doctor, and dedicated Green Bay Packers enthusiast, passed away surrounded by his loving family. Born in humble beginnings in Ponce, Puerto Rico on May 1, 1937, to Francisco and Luz Palmira Burgos, Paquito tirelessly worked his way through college and medical school. Following his internship and residency, he distinguished himself as a top specialist in his field.
A retired Colonel, Paquito took great pride in his service to the United States military, where he provided care to wounded service members and even treated a US President. Yet, if asked about his greatest achievement, he would say it was marrying the love of his life, Nydia, on December 26, 1960. Together, they shared an extraordinary journey that spanned the globe, supported by a deep and enduring love.
Paquito and Nydia joyously expanded their family with four children: Paquitin, Edgar, Robbie, and Nyddie, and their spouses: Elsita, Alina, and Joe. Their family grew to include seven grandchildren: Julian, Bryan, Nicole, Jeanette, Diego, Chucky, and Josselyn, and later welcomed seven great-grandchildren: Teagan, Finn, Greyson, Jacob, Holden, Chris, and Ella.
To his beloved wife Nydia, Paquito was a best friend, lifelong companion, and soulmate-the epitome of a love that inspires. To his children, he was an extraordinary father and role model, always offering kind words, warm embraces, and a shining example of integrity. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew him affectionately as Grandpa, who delighted in spoiling them and never missed an opportunity to share a humorous quip about Grandma salting the ocean every morning.
Paquito leaves behind a profound legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering integrity that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Services to honor Paquito will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Naugle Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida.
