January 25, 1949 — June 13, 2015

Gary L. Grimes Profile Photo
Born January 25, 1949, Gary lived in KY and MD before settling in Bradenton, Florida. After meeting his beautiful bride of 46+ years, it was his dedication and love for his family that drove the passion for Gary’s venture to become a successful business owner. This path first led him to live many years in Brooksville, FL as an area Supervisor for McDonald’s Corporation where he also became a very dedicated and active community member. His opportunity to become an Owner/Operator of McDonald’s came in 1986, moving Gary and his family to Jacksonville, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Vicelia Colwell Grimes; his son, Gregory Lee Grimes, his daughter (sister), Vicelia “Dianne” (Grimes) Azzarelli/Joe, his daughter, Kayla Grimes, brothers, James Hauser and Joseph Gayle/Vicki, sisters, Shirley Toucet, Judy VanKuren, and Donna Klebba/Terry, his Mother-in-Law, Lotus Colwell, his aunt, Betty Martin, 7 Grandchildren, two cousins and an immeasurable number of family “by choice” as well as numerous friends.
Gary enjoyed sharing his sense of humor and venturous nature; his family, friends, and colleagues can all attest to this and how these traits were treasured by all. He enjoyed taking off for a trip at a moment’s notice or tantalizing us all with the details of trips to come. Albeit he enjoyed experiencing new places himself, his favorite thing to do was to bless family members/friends by taking them on wondrous ventures and experiencing the joy of the trip through “their eyes!”
Gary became a Christian, May 12, 1968, during a revival in Bradenton, FL. With his passing, we know that he is now once again able to venture the wondrous streets of Heaven and enjoying all that our Faithful Father has in store for him! Memorial Service for Gary Lee Grimes will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 11 A.M.;
Westside Baptist Church, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL 32210
