Helen Lorraine Williams Blake died on September 26, 2013 after a prolonged illness. She is survived by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Donald, their children, Debbie, David and Lisa, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her indomitable spirit, boundless sense of humor and sweet nature will be missed by all who knew her.
A lifelong Jacksonville resident, she was a bookkeeper and a homemaker. After retiring, she became an accomplished artist, and her paintings are treasured by all who own them. But, her real vocation was caring for others. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind scores of people whose lives she touched: neighbors, caregivers, nieces, and a group of lifelong friends that have been close for over half a century. The absence of her openheartedness leaves a hard to soothe ache for her family and all of those whose lives she touched.
On Saturday October 5, 2013, after a private ceremony at Oaklawn cemetery, a reception will be held at her home in Glynlea park from 1 to 3 PM. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Helen’s honor to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
