Henry Clay "By God Jones" Jones Jr., age 70, passed away on
September 8, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on January 11, 1954,
in Jacksonville, Clay was a cherished member of the community, a
master carpenter & Superintendent with Auld & White Construction
for over 40 years.
Known for his kind and gentle soul, Clay was an avid outdoorsman,
spending fall seasons hunting at Sugar Branch Hunting Club in
Homerville, GA, and spring and summer fishing at Lake George. He
was also a talented surfer in his younger years, known for his skills on
a single fin longboard at North Jetties.
Clay leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship, survived by his
beloved life partner Joanie Collins, son Dwayne Clay Jones, and
granddaughters Hailey, Alaina, and Chloe Jones. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Henry Clay Jones Sr. and Miriam Jones, and
sister, Brenda Bowen.
A graduate of Ribault High School, Class of 1972, Clay's life was
marked by his dedication to his craft and his family. He enjoyed music
and was always the life of the party, ensuring those around him were
comfortable and cared for.
A Celebration of Life, featuring BBQ and shared memories, will be
held in his honor. Details will be provided separately, focusing on
celebrating "By God's" impactful life.
