Irving Denette Huffingham, better known as "Huffy" to his friends and family, was born on October 13, 1931 to John and Lura Huffingham in Jacksonville, Florida. He was welcomed into the arms of his loving Savior on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 92 years of age.

He is reunited with his late son-in-law, Walter LeCharles Johnston.
Huffy is survived by his wife Martha (Williams) Huffingham, of 67 years, his children Susan Johnston and Timothy (Helen) Huffingham, his grandchildren Andrew, Ashley, Amanda, Alyssa, Rachel, Caleb and Rebekah and their spouses as well as five great-grandchildren.

He received his Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies from Columbia Bible College as well as a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Florida.

Huffy served as a Ham Radio Operator for the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the Duval County school system, where he worked as a Teacher and Elementary School Principal for over 30 years.

Throughout his career, Huffy was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and Bivocational Pastor. He ministered as the Pastor of the Chinese Church at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida until his late 80s.

Huffy will be most remembered for the Godly wisdom he overflowed with. His commitment to his Lord and Savior was the single most important element of his life. He was known to rise early in the morning and spend time praying and reading the Word of God. In his later years, he expressed that his main role in life was to provide Godly counsel to his family and to share Jesus with everyone he came into contact with.

He dedicated his life to living for Jesus and assured his loved ones of his confidence in Christ by living out these words from D.L. Moody;
"Someday you will read in the papers that I Irving Huffingham am dead. Don't you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now. I shall have gone up higher, that is all; gone out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal, a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot taint, a body like unto His own glorious body."
