Jacqueline Irene Hatcher Cooper, 65, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Tuesday, November
5, 2024, at home. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida on February 16, 1959, to
Eddie and Mildred Hatcher. Jackie was one of six siblings and attended Jean Ribault High
School.
Jackie's first child, Marcus Hatcher, was born in 1974 and, soon after, in 1977, she welcomed
her second son, Keith Patrick Henry. Jackie was a loving mother and would do anything for her
children. She was so proud of her children and enjoyed any time she was able to have them
around.
Jackie met her husband, Major Cooper, here in Jacksonville and the two were married in 1998.
Jackie and Major loved to travel. They spent years caring for their granddaughter, Tarji Nicole
Cooper. Tarji was Jackie's pride and joy. She loved caring for her and took Tarji everywhere she
went.
Jackie began her career that she loved dearly, with Community Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in
2012 as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Counselor. Jackie was dedicated to helping enrich the
lives of others and always spoke about the individuals she supported. Her love and care for
others was evident in her personal life as well. She always looked for an opportunity to help
others and would always encourage others to be the best version of themselves.
Jackie was authentic, transparent and outspoken. Most of all, she was tough but had a soft
heart.
She loved to travel, read, and spend Saturdays at their family home talking and spending time
with her closest confidant and sibling, Gail.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie J. Hatcher Sr. and Mildred L. Hatcher; her sister
Mercedes Dixon, Margaret Williams; her granddaughter Tarji Nicole Cooper.
She is survived by her husband, Major Cooper; her sons, Marcus Hatcher (Joi Hatcher) and
Keith Patrick Henry; as well as her stepchildren with Major, Khaleah Cooper, Khadija Cooper,
Tonika Cooper; her grandchildren, Darrian J. Parker, Asante Babers, Keith Patrick Henry Jr.,
Michiko Henry, Jordan Hatcher, Justice Hatcher, Morgan Hatcher, Symphony Henry, Kyreece
Henry; her step-grandchildren with Major, Khaleal Gwyn, Khaleesi Gwyn, Khaleaf Gwyn,
Akayah Johnson, Tracey Johnson, Travis Johnson Jr, Deion Johnson, Ari, Telena Shipmen; her
siblings, Renee O'Neal (Thomas O'Neal), Gail Byrd (Delmer Byrd) , Eddie J. Hatcher Jr.
(Jacquelyn Fairbanks Hatcher); a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jackie's life on Tuesday, November 12th at 1pm at Naugle Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1203 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
