Berger, James Robert – James Robert Berger, 87, passed away June 15, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. An Army veteran, Scoutmaster, Shriner, storyteller, and friend to everyone he met, Jim was born in South Bend, Indiana to Bruce and Marguerite (Stull) Berger on February 4, 1930 as the youngest of four children. He proudly served his country in postwar Europe before returning home to start his family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bruce, William, and Sarah (Bartlett) Berger, his high school sweetheart Martha, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage, along with an infant son, James Robert Berger, II, and a daughter Suzi Schnippert. He is survived by his loving wife Jeannie, of 14 years, his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce & Melanie Berger, three grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan, and Amanda, and two great-grandchildren, Liisi and Kaia. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 17th at 4pm at the chapel at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
