James Calvin Clark came into this world on November 29, 1943 in
Bainbridge, GA . Jim fought the good fight of pancreatic cancer for six
years, bolstered by his faith, family, friends and his medical staff. On
September 23, 2024, he went home to his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy Clark and children,
Matthew Clark, Katherine Clark Espinosa (Joseph) and Jessica Kelley, his
brother, Carl and wife Crystal Clark and sister, Wendy McGowan.
He grew up in Eau Gallie/Melbourne area and graduated from
Melbourne High School. After serving in the US Army for four years, he
pursued a Master of Education degree at the University of Florida,
making him a fierce gator for life.
That led him to begin his lifelong career in education for 39 years in the
Duval County Public School System. He was always giving, listening and
offering support to the faculty, staff and students at Ed White High
School for 17 years.
It was there he grew his purpose of this lifetime. He became an
inspiration through leadership, guidance, support and loyalty to the
student body, to young educators and seasoned teachers as well. He
retired in 2009, beginning the next path of his life.
The lure of seeing portions of America led him to purchase a
motorcycle and make countless road trips with friends for nine years.
His passion for accruing knowledge never left him, so reading
consistently included both fiction and non-fiction and the treasured
scriptures.
His giving spirit never ceased as he took on the care and health of
neighbors, as well as becoming a volunteer for the Kori Road Library for
10 years. He also volunteered at various public events and food banks.
Jim faithfully attended Christian Family Chapel and was a consistent
member of SWAT Bible Study.
Jim's life was one of purpose and service. He likely would share Ralph
Waldo Emerson's words..."All that I have seen teaches me to trust the
Creator for all I have not seen."
Jim's life will be celebrated at Christian Family Chapel, 10365 Old St.
Augustine Road on Thursday, October 3 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to Christian Family Chapel, (Readiosity Fund,
Missions), Junior Achievement of North Florida or the charity of your
choice.
Funeral services are in the care of Naugle Funeral Home located at 1203 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, Florida 32207
