James Howard Morris was born in Amarillo, Texas on April 23, 1943. He went home to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of May 4, 2023 at Riverwood Center of Jacksonville, FL, after two years of recovery at Life Care Center of Jacksonville.
Upon graduation from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, Jim taught high school science. He worked in, and administrated several health departments in the Midwest, Alabama and Florida-- including his favorite position, regional quality control inspector for Red Lobster. He wrapped up his career as a principal for both public and private schools in several states. Yes, Jim did embrace new challenges.
Jim was a faithful and active member of Agape Church in St. Mary, Georgia. He loved his wife, kids and grandkids deeply, demonstrating this love through pranks, jokes and encouragement. He wore many hats (both literally and figuratively) and embraced numerous hobbies-his favorite was fishing (for men and fish). He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and his sense of humor.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Madge and Howard Morris and brother Stephen Morris. He leaves his devoted wife of 57 years, Carol Morris, his son Bryce H. Morris , his daughter-in-law Kristi Morris and two grandsons, Rhyan H. Morris and Jacob M. Morris of Wentzville Missouri. Also, his daughter, Jennifer J. Cloin, his son-in-law Michael L. Cloin, his two grandsons Dawson L. Cloin and Ethan M. Cloin and his only granddaughter Ashlin N. Cloin of Jacksonville, Florida.
We will miss Jim's infectious laugh, sly wit, and reminiscent stories of both the charismatic renewal movement and living among the Amish/Mennonite community.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Agape Church, 10600 Colerain Rd., St. Marys, GA 31558.
