James ("Bo") Dalziel Sprunt, Jr., passed away December 6, 2019. He was born in
Wilmington, N.C. to James Dalziel and Frances Ferris Sprunt on June 22, 1930.
Bo grew up enjoying the natural surroundings that Wilmington and Wrightsville
Beach had to offer. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed sailing, boating,
fishing and hunting. He had a deep appreciation for his Scottish heritage and a
steadfast love of Wilmington.
Bo attended The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania before returning home to
Wilmington and graduating from New Hanover High.
Bo joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. After the Navy, he attended
UNCW before relocating to Jacksonville to open a business with a fellow Wilmington
native, Jimmy Hughes. Shortly after coming to Jacksonville, he met and married Jill
Kimball. After a number of job related moves around Florida, they returned to
Jacksonville and settled down.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice (Billy) Cart and Jane
(Jack) Preston. He is survived by his wife of 59 years and his children James "Scott"
Dalziel Sprunt, III (Peggy Hough) and Stephen Kimball Sprunt (Beverly Nees),
grandchildren Jennifer Peeples (Adam), Alex Sprunt, Cole Sprunt and Jacob Sprunt.
There will be a service and internment in Wilmington at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of
Northeast Florida.
