Jessie Roy Dupre, 80, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 20, 1943 in Sulphur, LA to Tanzy and Marie Dupre. He had two sisters, Joyce Dominque and Clona May Berry, and a half-brother, Tanjay Dupre.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife Martha, three daughters, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his beloved companion, Teddy.
Jessie was a man of God who cherished his bible and read it faithfully every day. His faith has seen him through every high and low in life. He instilled in everyone he knew his love of Christ, and he was confident of his resting place in Heaven. He was a good and faithful servant. He joined and served in the US Navy as a machinist aboard the USS Topeka and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. He was deployed, fought, and served in Vietnam. He was transferred to the USS Bryce Canyon, and after active duty he transitioned to the US Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged.
He married his sweetheart Martha Elane Sumpter on May 12, 1965, and they were happily married for 59 years. In addition to his wife Martha, he leaves behind his three daughters, Lisa, wife of Jim Hines, Dawn, wife of Jon Koppenhofer, and Laura, wife of Tony Crane. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tylor, husband to Catherine Langley, Logan Langley, Jess, spouse of Taylor Koppenhofer, Kaitlyn Koppenhofer, Caleb, husband to Maggie Crane, and Cana Crane, along with his great-grandchildren, JW, Robert, and Thomas, and his dog, Teddy.
Jessie had a love for carpentry work, and he proudly built two of the homes that they raised their family in. He also loved working on cars and tinkering in the garage. He could fix anything and never threw anything away. He loved fishing and his happy place was near the water where he could sit for hours and just let time go by watching people, wildlife, boats, and the waves. He was artistic and loved to draw and paint.
We will miss him but know that he is resting in the arms of his Heavenly Father and is healed from all the ailments he fought for so many years
