With hearts full of faith and memories cherished, we announce the peaceful passing of JoAnn McCullough on April 12, 2024, at the age of 77. JoAnn, a faithful and devoted woman, departed this life into her heavenly Father's arms, as her husband sat by her side singing her favorite hymns.
JoAnn was born on September 16, 1946, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Rev. Warren and Joanna Rush. She lived a life marked by quiet strength and unwavering commitment to her family and faith. She served diligently as a secretary, a church pianist and organist, a nurturing mother, and a loving wife. She enriched the lives of all who knew her with her steadfast love and gentle guidance.
JoAnn was known by many as the "butterfly lady" because of her love of collecting all things butterfly. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, especially to cheer on Florida State football and to support her son-in-law's coaching endeavors. JoAnn's educational journey at Leon High and Blue Mountain Christian University strengthened her character and deepened her faith.
JoAnn is now reunited in Heaven with her parents and brother Dale Rush. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, Lester, her cherished daughter Melody and son-in-law Donnie Revell, her adored grandchildren Logan and Mackenzie Revell and Brandon VanKluyve, and the newest blessing to the family, her great-granddaughter Aslynn Grace. Her sister Deborah Davis with her husband Freddy, her sister-in-law Cherry Rush, and sister-in-law Carol Hicks with husband Ben Hicks, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and beloved relatives and friends, will continue to cherish her memory.
A service to celebrate JoAnn's life will be held on April 19, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, 25 State Road 13, Jacksonville, Florida 32259, in the River Lounge. The family respectively requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Westminster Woods Foundation, as a tribute to the special care provided to JoAnn in her later years.
The arrangements for JoAnn's farewell are entrusted to Naugle Funeral Home. While we mourn the loss of JoAnn McCullough, we are consoled by the knowledge that her legacy endures in the lives she touched and in the assured hope that she rests in peace in the company of our Lord.
