John Richard Morris

“Papa John” Morris
John R. Morris, born November 6, 1946, passed away peacefully on Friday January 1, 2016 at home surrounded by family. John is survived by his wife Gail Morris, brother Mike Morris (Bev), and his sister Elaine Morris. His children, Heather Morris Rodriguez (Omar), Rick Milstead (Cindy), Patti Menefee, and Rusty Rohman (Natalie). His granddaughters, Jessica Rodriguez, Savannah and Dalaina Menefee, Elizabeth, Sarai, Anna, Danielle, and Abigail Rohman.
John served four years in the Air Force. In his early years he was in construction, specializing in carpentry. He then transitioned in to dog training, including canine frisbee. John and his dog Kelly, won state and national titles.
John also loved skydiving, logging over 400 jumps. He enjoyed collecting coins, particularly error coins, a passion he shared with his granddaughter, Elizabeth. John also loved bonsai and was truly an artist. Many of his trees are on display at D and L Nursery in Ockalawaha, FL.
Per John’s requests, he was cremated, and his ashes are to be spread around the world. There will not be a funeral or memorial service, but rather a Celebration of Life and Bonfire for “Papa John” Morris.
