Burton Joseph "Burt" Tebo died unexpectedly on October 20, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 56.
Burt is survived by his sister Mary Tebo, brother-in-law Daniel Simberloff, and their daughters Tander and Ruth Simberloff of Knoxville, TN; his brother Bernard Tebo, sister-in-law Mary Susan Tebo, and their daughter Jenna Tebo of Green Cove Springs, FL; by Steven Weldon, of Tallahassee, FL; and by his faithful dog Comeer. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Tebo of Jacksonville, FL who died in 2013.
Burt was born on February 28, 1961 in Jacksonville, FL to Betty Tebo and Burton Tebo. His father Burton died in 1968 in a car accident. Betty moved the family to Tallahassee and supported them as a school-teacher and small-farm owner. Burt was a member of the second class to graduate from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL in 1979. Burt served in the Navy for two years, was a server at the Governor's Club in Tallahassee, and enjoyed a long career as a talented chef in various restaurants in Florida and elsewhere. Despite a long struggle with alcoholism, Burt clung to his belief in a just and kind God and the transformational power of the Holy Spirit.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 am Thursday, October 26, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32217 <
