Juanita grew up mostly during the great depression, but remembers it fondly due to the closeness of family, friends and community. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School shortly before the end of WWII. She became a legal secretary after graduation, working for the Howell Kirby Law Firm early in her career, and afterwards for Attorney John I. Todd for almost 40 years. After retiring, she worked with a high school friend at her south side restaurant, Beignets.

Juanita was a very committed wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family. She loved interacting with people both in business and personally, and had many good friends through the years.

Juanita was a long-time member of Hendricks Memorial United Methodist Church in Spring Park, later attending New Life Christian Fellowship. She fully committed her life to Jesus in 1983, and lived that commitment the remainder of her days. Juanita was very merciful and compassionate to others and also very generous. Her love and kindness impacted many people throughout her life even up to her death.

A memorial service will be held at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida, at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 3. A visitation will begin at 9:30. A short graveside family service will be held at Oaklawn cemetery, after the memorial service.
