Obituary for Judy Franson
Judy Helen Franson passed away peacefully on September 24 2023. She was the child of Sophie
and Frederick Bye, born on February 9, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents and
sisters Barbara Bye and Shirley (Bye) Price. A native of Ishpeming, Michigan, she attended
Ishpeming High School. Judy last worked for the State of Florida's Department of
Environmental Protection. Retirement agreed with her; it gave her more time for books. Judy
was a voracious reader. A life-long, proud "Yooper," she loved visiting family in her hometown
of Ishpeming, where she learned, from her mother, the art of making pasties. She was filled with
happiness in the company of her three, beloved daughters, Beth (Franson) Wells, Lynn Franson,
and Valerie Franson. With the arrival of grandchildren, Judy acquired the sobriquet, Aiti, our
Aiti, and she marveled at the accomplishments of her three grandchildren: Sean Wells, Stacy
Wells, and Glenn Godfrey. But here's the truth: Judy was happiest next to the man she spent her
life loving, Bill Franson, traveling across the country visiting national parks with Yosemite being
her favorite. She also loved listening to A Prairie Home Companion while drinking a glass of
wine on their balcony. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at
Community Hospice and Life Care Center of Orange Park.
